Me and the ladies on the ward.
Total strangers yet audience to each other’s most intimate suffering.
Behind the thinly veiled curtains we hear each other’s cries of pain, tears and vomiting.
Behind the thinly veiled curtains we are audience to the most intimate discussions with doctors.
An unusual juxtaposition –
strangers yet with the most innermost personal knowledge of each other’s condition.
We instinctively know when to lower our eyes out of respect on some days and when to enquire.
Solidarity with the ladies on my ward.
